The Evolution of Agile at a Startup

May 16 @ 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Join us for a new event format this May, where we will be sharing different stories about structure in Agile and DevOps environments.

The talks will look at common themes such as how people in successful, fast-growing companies and startups have responded to agile ways of working and what impact high-growth has had on their structure. This event will be hosted by Moogsoft, who are AI and Big Data automation experts, at their offices in Kingston, Surrey.

We look forward to welcoming you on the 16th of May.

THE TALKS

THE EVOLUTION OF AGILE WITHIN A STARTUP

Moogsoft has changed a great deal in its lifetime; changed size, changed technology, changed office and changed the way our customers look at service operations. A better description of what’s happened to Moogsoft might be that we’ve evolved; as a company and as a team. An area where the contrast between then and now is starkest is our approach to process – Agile and otherwise.

This talk isn’t a lecture but a story of where we’ve come from; the successes and failures along the way, what we’ve learned from them, the changes we’ve implemented and how we’ve done it, where we stand today and what the future holds for Agile at Moogsoft. We hope that we can give you some insight into the evolution of Agile from early stage to established startup.

SPEAKER

Annneke Panman (Engineering Manager) and Jean-Pierre Huynh (DevOps Engineer)

WHAT OUR LEADERSHIP BELIEFS CAN TEACH US ABOUT STRUCTURE & CULTURE

Simon Powers has worked with many different companies of different sizes and complexity, in many different sectors. In his adventures with organisational change, he has discovered that most organsations are exhausted, frustrated, and failing.

The reasons for this is simple but widespread. Many fail to navigate or understand the complexity and do not keep up with the pace of change or speed required for success. Many do not build in a deep respect for the people who work for them or themselves. Others do not invest in continual improvement, and their products, processes and staff knowledge become stale, boring, and ineffectual.

In this talk, he will focus on the leadership beliefs that lead to good (and bad) structures and how this affects the culture of an organisation. He will give simple and practical advice on making organisations amazing places to work and will draw upon case studies from his own experience.

Attending this talk, you can expect to recognise structural anti-patterns and to learn ways to make structure and culture better.

SPEAKER

Simon is the founder of Adventures with Agile. Simon teaches and consults on how to overcome these common challenges and build organisations that thrive and are fun places to work.
